Stories
Hi friends, let me share a story with you.
Four years back I was taking photos along the beach of Boulevard Park of this amazing cloud formation. It was shaped like a swirling wave over a smooth windless bay. I snapped photos as the clouds changed with the setting sun. A man and his very good dog in a canoe paddled by. How so wonderfully Bellingham! I took photos of them too and later chose their photo to paint. I painted it big, 4 feet by 4. They are both in silhouette on the water in front of the sun and clouds. This painting was displayed at a few different locations around town over the years. A handful of folks told me they wanted to purchase it but that hadn't happen. They told me they knew who it was and that he would love it if he saw it but that hadn't happen. A few months ago I received an email. A woman asked to see this painting in person and wanted more info about it. How did this painting come to be? We met after she viewed it. I shared that I was not sure if the very good dog was a lab or a poodle so I painted it to be either. She tells me the dog is a labradoodle. Perfect! The man, her law firm partner and friend. She purchased the painting to be placed on a wall at the firm as a memorial to him. He passed recently and this was an image of him doing something he enjoyed doing with his very good dog, Molly. Now his friends in the community and family can see this painting when visiting the firm and remember. Full circle. Grateful! |
